TRONGSA TSHECHU (FESTIVAL)

Duration – 11 nights / 12 days

Trongsa was one of the most important towns in Bhutan. It was from here than our kingdom was unified. The Dzong and township occupy one of the most spectacular sites in Bhutan. Our lodging is at the new Yanghill Resort which, besides being one of best hotel facilities in Bhutan, affords the most dramatic panorama of the town, the dzong, and the steep river valleys.

Day 1:

Arrive at Paro, clear immigration and customs. I will meet as you exit the airport and take you to the hotel. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan and Paro Dzong. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 2:

Sightseeing in Paro Valley. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 3:

Walk/hike to Tiger’s Nest, Taktshang Monastery. Lunch at Taktshang teahouse with the spectacular view of the famous monastery. Stay Overnight at hotel.

Day 4:

Morning drive to Thimphu and then on to Punakha via Dochu Pass (3100m). On clear days there are excellent views of the Himalayas. Afternoon sightseeing of the Punakha and Wangdi valleys. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 5:

Drive to Trongsa with a stop at Chendebji Chorten. Check in and lunch in the hotel. In the afternoon, make an excursion to Kuenga Rabten, an ancestral home of the Royal Family. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 6:

Full day at the Trongsa Tshechu festival and in Trongsa township. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 7:

Full day at the Trongsa Tshechu festival and in Trongsa township, or free time on your own. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 8:

Drive to Phobjiikha valley, which is one of the most beautiful in the country. Lunch box will be served at Chendebji Chorten. Evening explore the valley on your own. Stay overnight in lodge at Gangtey Gompa.

Day 9:

Drive to Thimphu. Cultural program in the afternoon and evening at your own leisure. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 10:

Thimphu valley sightseeing. Stay Overnight at hotel.

Day 11:

Morning make an excursion to Chari Monastery. On route view the Denchencholing Palace where the Queen Mother resides. Lunch in Thimphu. Afternoon drive to Paro. On route visit the Simtokha Dzong, which holds the Institute for Language and Cultural Studies. Farewell dinner. and overnight at hotel.

Day 12:

Drive to the airport in time to check-in for your early morning departure.
